Everyday she wakes up with a piece of

her shattered dreams,

accepted, she picks up

the fragments

once her hope, now live in trash

Smiles her heavy heart

in the mirror, exclaims,

oh dear, such a beautiful art.

Like a sleight of hand, prepares lunch

goodbye to kids and husband,

her way back sees her neighbour

cleaning his garden, finely

separating dried petals and leaves

she smiles

lovely your flowers are, to him.

she is innocent, just like the

dried petals, lost colours,

but the spirit is alive

puts them back into the garden,

believes in power of magic, rejuvination

of life, resurrection of hope

feeds the bird chirping

in her balcony, laughs

the bird alights, fluttering its wings

freedom, hiccups, freedom,

hiccups, freedom her luxury

cuckoo sings, it's time for morning prayers

chants for strength and happiness.

her good old days, a bright student

she was, her friends admired her,

dear, the world is your oyster

teacher's remark,

walking on air, in a few days

tied the knot, dolled up in gold

dreams departed, came to a standstill

unexpected to behold, teary eyes

in someone's home, demands,

bespoke food, her new life begins

a new life? she asked herself

yearned to go back, silence

non-existent her ebullient self

front runner once, now lagging

belittle her, in-laws praise each other

is this a way of living life?

accepted, gleamless look

forever, is her new life

hiccups, freedom is a luxury

but enough, enough

the almighty has risen, powerful

her smile is her, her sparkle is her,

epiphany, I am strong, I am

happy, repeats everyday

while broken pieces lay.
